- Basics
- People watch consultation videos for one of two reasons
- For the story
- For people with similar hairstyles as the client to see what advice the barber would give the client
- Only record people who are good on camera and have good energy in front of a camera
- You don’t need to record the video in one take
- Hook
- Needs to be strong enough to stop someone from scrolling and make them want to watch the rest of the video
- Best practices
- Record these on new clients OR returning clients that have something interesting to talk about
- Have 3 main topics to ask questions about, and then have follow-up questions to gain more talking points that can used as a hook
- What brought you in today?
- What are you looking to do with your hair?
- Why did you leave your last barber/why do you keep coming back to me even though I charge x
- Interest Peaks
- Your follow up questions to the top 3 are where the gold for the video is at
- Here we are looking for problems that arise to “peak” a viewers attention and hold them onto the video
- Here are some examples:
- What brought you today? “I got a first date tonight”
- How did you meet her?
- You think shes the one?
- How long you been single for?
- How has dating been in 2024?
- What are you looking to do with your hair? “I usually just do a mid fade crop”
- When was the last time you switched it up?
- Are you open to my suggestions?
- Do barbers have any issues giving you this cut before?
- Why did you leave your last barber? “They moved”
- So what made you decide to book with me?
- What’s the worst part about trying a new barber for the first time?
- Did you ever cheat on your barber? If so, why did you go back?
- Payoff
- This is KEY, we need to make the client look like a completely different person on the before and after
- Make sure the cut makes them look like they go from zero confidence to one hundred

- Basics
- These can be our bread and butter for content
- We want to think of these as mini music videos with great cuts, great energy, and making the viewer feel like they want to watch more after they see the showcase
- Hook
- All we are looking for is a great action or pattern interrupt
- DO NOT start your video off with the usual bald line debulking, start off in different areas of the head
- Three Clip Sequences
- To keep the viewer's attention held throughout the video, we need the video to not be redundant
- Every clip we do should have the following
- Different action
- Different motion
- Different area of the head
- Payoff
- Ideally, we want the song beat to drop right when the showcase drops
- This creates build up for the payoff
- Make sure the cut is detailed to perfection for best client conversion

- Basics
- These are the easiest to create, but hardest to make bang
- Idea behind these needs to show your client with low confidence, transform to high confidence and look like a completely different person
- Do not do these videos if you don’t have that drastic transformation
- Hook
- The hook will be written
- Examples;
- Power of a haircut
- Haircut are men's makeup
- POV: You got that post breakup cut
- Ensure the client looks sad or like they have low confidence for the first frames
- Song Choice/Payoff
- These require you to choose a song with a FIRE beat drop
- The first 3-4 clips are the build up, and when the beat drops the transformation happens
- You can also use songs that other barbers use, but would recommend to find your own songs for best use
